Think about the most exciting times in your life, go ahead and take a minute to let that rattle around in your head. Times up, if the beginning of every NFL season isn’t on that list then I got news for you, I don’t trust you. We have endured nine long months since we last saw any sort of real NFL action, since Pete Carroll forgot he had Marshawn Lynch on his team and Russell Wilson threw that pick. There are so many things to look forward to this season that I can’t wrap my mind around it.
New faces in new places. Coaches, some familiar and some new names, will take their new teams into the right direction, hopefully. And last but not least the Patriots, for a couple of reasons. One, Tom “Da Goat” Brady. Two, can they repeat? Obviously, after everything that has transpired Brady is the most interesting story line here. Can we all finally agree that he’s Jesus in the flesh? Deflate and Spygate, the tuck rule, four Super Bowl rings, and last but not least, he is still married to Gisele. Yeah, c’mon, let’s just agree on this one people. He lawyered up and showed Roger Goodell who really runs the NFL.
Besides all the negativity that went along with the NFL name this off-season, there are a lot of positive things that happened. Ndamukong Suh became the highest paid non-QB in the league, any time someone gets paid the big bucks I’m happy. These guys are modern-day gladiators out there colliding at full speed and breaking their bodies down. Make your paper, boys. Also, Sam Bradford is making a comeback, again. What is this the third time? If he wins the Comeback Player of the Year they should just go ahead and re name it after him, he’s defying all odds at this point.
As much as it pains me to say this, all the attention heading into this season isn’t focused on the right thing, the players. They’re the ones out bashing their bodies against each other the way Mike Tyson used to do his opponents. But all ESPN does is talk about Goodell. I mean, I get it, he’s a moron. I need me a job where I can be wrong so many times, and STILL have a job. I’m interested to see how his whole situation all pans out but I just wish we could focus on what happens in the 2024-2025 season, on the field. The Steelers and Patriots kick off the season tomorrow night, and if this off-season is any indication on what the season is bringing, bring on the drama.
