Kyle Anderson 6″9 230 lbs , was selected with the 30th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. As Anderson gets ready for his sophmore season, his play in the NBA Summer League has him set to blossom this upcoming season. Anderson most recently showed flashes of his ball handling and shot creating abilities in the NBA Summer League. Anderson along with his first female head coach Becky Hammon who is featured in a piece by Spark Sports highlighted “Becky Hammon is changing the NBA” won the 2024 Summer League Championship. Anderson was able to dissect defenses off the dribble and either create for himself or his teammates. Although he will most likely not get many minutes as he sites behind Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green , if he gets a chance he could find himself a regular in the Spurs rotation.
In the summer league, throughout six games, Anderson averaged 22 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals. Anderson joins an exclusive list of recent NBA players who have come out of New Jersey. Kyrie Irving , J.R. Smith and Karl-Anthony Towns (2024 first overall pick in 2024) to name a few. Nicknamed “Slow-Mo” Anderson is known for letting the game come to him at his own pace, but in the summer league Anderson was able to speed the pace up a little bit and he still looked natural doing so. There is still a long way to go for Anderson but the Spurs are one of the best teams in the NBA in scouting out unnoticed talent such as George Hill the now starter for the Indiana Pacers and Tiago Splitter who they just traded to the Hawks.
