I have been a FanDuel guy my whole life, but something was missing. I didn’t feel like i was getting rewarded for my value plays enough. I didn’t get the satisfaction of my sleeper picks doing well on a given night. Sport Stock flips the script on getting compensation for your value players, just like the stock market.
Sport Stock allows you to select sleepers and cheaper players that you think will do well in a given season, and let’s you hang onto them for the duration of the season! It’s not just daily fantasy. If you like a guy and are fully invested in them, select them for the long haul, and go along for the ride all season long. The payout is enormous.
FanDuel and Draft Kings force you to wipe your slate clean after the last game of the night has ended, and a new day begins. With Sport Stock, you have the option of doing the same, or being in a committed relationship with your guys. Think of it as the real life stock market.
The object of the game is to acquire the highest return. You’re given a set amount of digital coin (10,000 dynasty dollars) at the start to select who you think will get hot. Every single player will get hot and cold on a nightly basis, based on how they perform in their respected games. If they overachieve, their values goes up, if they underachieve, their value goes down. What you have to worry about is your own personal portfolio. If your players do well consistently, your portfolio gains value.
There are tons of new details in the scoring system as well. Your portfolio earns dividends when your players reach certain statistical mile markers (triple doubles, 20+ points, 10+ rebounds etc.) These dividends are based on a percentage of their value. A triple double from Fred VanVleet will be markedly more points than a triple double from LeBron James.
As far as strategy goes, it’s 100% your style. I personally like to surround my team with 2 studs, 2 sleepers based on matchup, and the rest of my team filled with solid role players that i know will produce. For example: last night i played LeBron James vs a struggling Mavericks team. LeBron had a triple double so i got my statistical dividend bonus, to go along with Ben Simmons who got two statistical dividend bonus’ (20+ points and 10+ rebounds). Those were my two studs.
Surrounding them with middle of the road value plays (Paul George against a playoff team, Andrew Wiggins without Jimmy Butler in the lineup, etc.) and my biggest sleeper payoff of the night Jabari Parker (21 points, 10 rebounds at a steal of a deal). My portfolio after last night gained significant value and my stock skyrocketed. I combined those guys with a super cheap start of Tyus Jones (Jeff Teague questionable) and Mike Muscala (vs Orlando aka tank fest) and almost doubled my portfolios value overnight.
As we speak, the app is only available for NBA, but the developers are working towards expanding this new form of daily-yearly fantasy stock game into all sports. Check out the website Sport Stock App and follow it on social media @sportstockapp
