Kyrie Irving has dismantled and crushed the hearts of many Cavalier fans. Irving averaged 25 points per game last year as the Cavaliers starting point guard and has requested a trade away from the Cavs, with the Minnesota Timberwolves being one of Kyrie’s preferred destinations.
A trade scenario that would send Kyrie Irving to the Timberwolves; Jeff Teague, Andrew Wiggins, Tyus Jones and a 2018 first round pick to Cleveland would make sense for both sides. The Cavaliers would have their point guard to replace Kyrie in Jeff Teague who is a solid proven point guard, and they would also receive his young back up Tyus Jones. Jones is a young prospect that would give the Cavs an asset, which they have lacked.
The real killer here is Andrew Wiggins coming back to the team that drafted him. Wiggins would be a very nice scoring wing compliment to LeBron James, and has room to improve. On the other side, Kyrie Irving joining the Timberwolves would make them a Western Conference finals contender with a new big three of Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, and Karl-Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves would become a great spot for free agents, as well as a serious playoff threat. The Cavaliers would get two young prospects, a proven point guard, and a draft pick. If this trade were to go through both the Cavaliers and the Timberwolves would be two of the top teams in the NBA.
