With the NBA draft lottery taking place tonight, it was a good time to discuss the draft process with someone who’s been there and done that.
That’s exactly what Jimmy Kimmel did when he sat down and talked with Paul George. Now, when most people picture how it goes down when a player gets drafted, they think the player is surrounded by family, friends, maybe even past coaches, all taking in one of the biggest moments in the player’s life.
In Paul George’s case, that is exactly what it was like. George said he was with his family the night he was drafted by the Pacers and there were many firsts for him and his family. It was the first time he had been to New York, first time his family had been to New York, and the first time his parents had been on a plane.
After George was drafted is when the story gets good, but don’t take my word for it, listen to George explain it all himself.
Can you imagine meeting one of the best basketball players to ever lace them up as you are hungover? George must have played it cool, because it’s all worked out well so far in his career.
Now, George is a free-agent next summer and one of the hottest markets for free-agents is LA. The Lakers seem to always be in the conversation when a big name star hits the market and for George it’s amped up a little bit extra. George is from LA and many think the Lakers have a really good chance to land him.
George talked about it with Kimmel and he played it ultra cool, probably just how his agent wants it to be, but Magic Johnson seemed a bit more giddy when talking about George possibly playing for his Lakers.
George talked about new sneakers, who he wants to win the upcoming NBA Finals, and much more with Kimmel. The whole interview can be found here!
Drunken draft nights, free-agency, and new sneakers are making Paul George’s summer a good one!
