Even over a year into his retirement, former running back Marshawn Lynch is still a hot commodity.
It was reported this morning that the Oakland Raiders were interested in trading for the Lynch. Lynch is still on payroll with the Seattle Seahawks, the last team that he played for back during the 2015-2016 season.
Lynch had a very successful run in Seattle, rushing for 1,000+ yards each season from 2011-’14 before having his 2015 season cut short by injury. He then chose to retire after the season at the age of 29, with 3 years left on his contract. The Raiders would be picking up the last 2 years, $20 million left on his contract.
If there were a team to convince Lynch to un-retired, it would be the Raiders.
An Oakland native, Lynch is very active in the community and has been adamant in his love for his hometown. It may be a long-shot, but after losing former starting running back Latavius Murray to free agency, bringing in Lynch would be a huge pickup for this up and coming Raiders team. However, Lynch has seemed to really enjoy retirement, so I find it hard to believe he would be willing to put the pads back on. Still, who wouldn’t want Marshawn Lynch back in an NFL uniform?
