Two MVP candidates faced off on Sunday night and only one could walk away victorious. Both Harden and James are having arguably the best seasons of their careers and are leading their teams to the top of their respective conferences.
The game was a back and forth affair between two three point shooting teams. The Cavaliers are shooting 39 percent from three while the Rockets are shooting 36 percent. Despite the mediocre numbers, what separates the teams from the other ones are the volume of threes they take.
The Rockets set a record for the amount of threes taking in a single game while the Cavs set the record for the most amount of threes made.
The Rockets have struggled against the upper tier teams in the league so that was also a story-line to watch out for. In this one it didn’t seem to be a problem though as they took the victory 117-112.
The difference between the two teams was actually the dirty work. The Rockets were able to claw 16 more offensive rebounds than the Cavs which was vital to their victory. The teams actually ended up dead even from the three point line as they both made 17 out of 43 shots.
The MVP battle was also clearly evident between both LeBron and Harden. LeBron ended the game with 30 points which is something he doesn’t do too often anymore, so you know he was trying to prove something. Harden added another triple double to his season with 38 points 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Harden got the better of the match-up that night, but do you think he can bring home the hardware? Let us know in the comments section!
