The Big East tournament starts Wednesday, March 8th and is held at the historic Madison Square Garden. Villanova is still riding high off of their National Championship victory last season and has pretty much dominated all year. The Butler Bulldogs are the only other team guaranteed to make the Big Dance at the end of the month, and basically everyone is predicting those two to face off in the Big East championship. I’m here to tell you otherwise.
My BOLD Prediction
I’m going to catch a lot of heat for this, but l’m going out on a limb and saying neither Villanova or Butler will win the Big East title. A lot of people have already written off Creighton due to their loss of Maurice Watson Jr. earlier in the year. The Bluejays still have two stars in Marcus Foster (18.5 PPG) and Justin Patton who can be an absolute monster. My other upset team is the Marquette Golden Eagles (19-11) who have scoring all over the floor and lead the conference in 3-point shooting %. I’m going with the longshot here, Marquette who is +1200 ( bet $100 to win $1200) to take down the Bluejays in the championship game which will be a very high scoring affair.
Players to Watch
Josh Hart G Villanova: Player of the Year candidate, 18.7 PPG, 50.7% from the field.
Marcus Foster G Creighton: 18.5 PPG , big time shooter, fearless.
Kelan Martin F Butler: 16.1 PPG, has gotten better every year, capable of taking over any game.
