It was announced Wednesday afternoon, that the Golden State Warriors released point guard José Calderón only two hours after they announced his addition to the team. However, the move was highly anticipated as the possible season-ending injury to star swingman Kevin Durant, has caused a need at the small forward position. Thursday morning, the Warriors made another highly predicted announcement:
In a release by the Warriors PR–
OFFICIAL: Warriors sign veteran forward Matt Barnes to contract. He will be in uniform for tonight's game in Chicago. pic.twitter.com/08Zx79hDji

As the release stated, this will be Matt Barnes‘ second stint with the Warriors. He was a part of the ’07 Warriors squad that miraculously upset the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks.
Barnes is joining Golden State after an (for lack of a better term) unfortunate 54 games with the Sacramento Kings. That’s not to say Barnes was bad -he averaged 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists- but the Kings have been labeled as, “Basketball Hell.” And that was by Rudy Gay, who’s on their roster.
Barnes will once again wear uniform #22, the same number he wore during his first tenure with the team. He is expected to suit up with the team in Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls.
