Tonight’s game versus the Hornets ended in another heart breaking loss for the Lakers. If you recall, the last time these two teams met up, Los Angeles had a 19 point lead and still managed to lose the game. Both teams have come a long way since then which resulted in another hard fought battle tonight that ended with the superior Hornets taking the season series. I’ve been quite adamant about how next year is when the Lakers wins and losses start to REALLY matter, what most of Laker nation is looking at right now is how each player is developing individually AND how that player is molding with the rest of the crew. At this point and time, this whole team is fitting in quite nice with each other.
Julius Randle put on a show tonight 23 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. I’ve called him the Swiss Army knife, the glue and at this point and time, the Lakers beat overall player. Don’t believe me? Click the link below.
My favorite thing about watching Randle’s dominance on both sides of the ball is that even when Randle was hot from the floor, the swagger to be the main guy never left his teammates. Over the last three games the Lakers seem to have come alive and regained their confidence on the offensive end. At one point tonight each Laker on the floor took turns beating their man to the hoop. The confidence has struck these young guys and it’s struck much earlier than anyone could have expected.
Jordan Clarkson was playing quality minutes at the PG and SG positions. Brandon Ingram went over 40 minutes played tonight. D’Angelo Russell has finally shut the people up who have doubted him since he’s entered the league, Laker fans included. Tarik Black went all beast mode and did his best Larry Nance Jr. impersonation.
Everything seemed to be clicking on all cylinders until the final few minutes when the Lakers youth and inexperience really peeped its ugly head out. There are strides this team still has to make but I’m no longer worried about IF they can make them, it’s simply now when they will make them. No one on this team is scared to take over when his number is called, you can’t rattle a team who hasn’t had anything to lose. This team still knows no fear which is scary, and also very interesting.
