It’s that time of the year again. We see how the NBA season is slowly coming to an end as we are now in March. Every team in the NBA is looking at the grand picture. What will happen in the next 6 weeks or so. Will they be able to make the playoffs? Is it time to tank and hopefully get a high pick in this loaded draft? Can they reach a high spot so they can take home court advantage?
For the New York Knicks fans…it’s just “Can they stop losing so much?”
The grand question that every Knicks fan is wondering right now is that if the Knicks are going to put on the clutch mode and be able to, somehow, reach that 8th seed in the Eastern Conferenced and get a pass to the playoffs. If you’re a diehard Knicks fan, maybe you still have faith. If you’re a realist…then you know the odds of that happening are not that high.
Latest news were that the Knicks waived backup point guard Brandon Jennings because of his desire to play for a playoff team. That’s understandable, and it looks like Jennings now the Knicks are not going anywhere anytime soon.
So, what does the front office need to do? Do they need to rest Carmelo Anthony the rest of the season like they already have done before? Do they start to look at other options in free agency and maybe make a push? It’s pretty late for them to make a trade, so do they look in the off-season to see what they can do? These are all questions that need to be answered, as Knicks fans all over the world are very mad at what’s happening right now.
The Knicks are standing at 5 games behind the 8th seeded Detroit Pistons. There are 22 games left in the season for the Knicks. Is there hope for them? Of course there is. Can they make the playoffs? Of course they can. WILL THEY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS? I’m not so sure.
Jeff Hornacek said that he will implement the triangle offense one more time and see who fits and who doesn’t. And we all know how this story ends up. The Knicks have bad luck. They have made bad decisions throughout a whole year. And this is all backfiring right now.
All there is to do is pray that some miracle happens. Pray that Porzingis can stay healthy for the 22 games left. That Carmelo keeps balling the way he is. That Rose can find his place in New York. That Hernangomez turns into Pau Gasol. You get the point. But it all comes down to them. Do they want to make the playoffs? That’s the real question.
Hopefully, we can get our answers in tonight’s game against the Magic.
