According to multiple reports, Kobe Bryant’s former agent Rob Pelinka will be named the new GM for the Lakers. He will be replacing Mitch Kupchak, who was fired earlier in the day. Pelinka and Magic Johnson will be the two major front office officials dealing with basketball operations.
Pelinka was an agent to multiple players and he’s already got former Lakers forward Trevor Ariza’s vote of confidence:
Trevor Ariza on Pelinka: "I think he'll be unbelievable in that role. He knows basketball. He has a really, really good eye for talent."

This front office shakeup all started today with the release of Kupchak and now former team President Jim Buss earlier in the morning. Since these moves were made, Magic and Jeanie Buss went on ESPN LA to explain their decision to part with Kupchak and Jeanie’s brother Jim.
The Lakers are now entering the era of Jeanie Buss with her, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka at the helm.
