The Sacramento Kings front office is under questioning because of this historical trade. The Kings traded away the best big men in the game (DeMarcus Cousins) for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and two draft picks.
Twitter exploded after the trade and even NBA Players chimed in
But here’s why the Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé agreed to the trade. According to Baxter Holmes, “Vivek thinks Buddy Hield has Stephen Curry potential.”
So, even if Hield has Curry potential would you still trade the best big man in the game right now?
Buddy Hield is averaging 8.6 PPG, shooting 39.2% and 37% from the 3Pt line. Hield is known for his 3 pt shooting. His 3Pt shooting at Oklahoma is what reeled the Pelicans to draft him. Hield was selected in first round with the sixth pick.
3-pointers made this season:
DeMarcus Cousins: 95
Buddy Hield: 89
According to Chris Mannix, Vivek has been a big fan of Hield for a couple of years now.
Before the trade happened, DeMarcus Cousins’ agent said he doesn’t think Cousins will sign a deal with his new team.
The Kings are in the 9th spot in the playoff hunt.
