The 5’9 Phenom is putting the Boston Celtics back on the map in the Eastern Conference. With the help of Isiah Thomas, Boston is the second seed in their conference. Even with the second seed in the Eastern Conference, Boston is not listed as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ toughest opponent in the East. The Celtics are headed in the right direction for the future and are also in win now mode. Boston will possibly have the #1 or #2 pick this year in this year’s draft. Boston has the Nets’ 2018 unprotected first round pick too. Boston is the most interesting team because of what they can do before the trade deadline.
The Boston Celtics have the right players and draft picks to pair a superstar with IT. Adding another superstar will definitely make them championship contenders. The Boston Celtics’ general manager and President of Basketball Operations, Danny Ainge is aware that they can make a big move or keep their draft picks for the future.
Ainge said he is exploring options before the trade deadline ends. Danny Ainge doesn’t want to mess up the team’s long-term plans. Ainge spoke with 98.5 Sports Hub radio show about the trade deadline.
“We’re not looking for Band-Aids and we’re not looking to give up future assets. We’re trying to build something more sustainable than a rent-a-player.”
Danny Ainge is aware that he has the right players to make any move he wants.
“Everyone knows the assets we have and the young players we have,” he said.
Danny Ainge doesn’t want to rent a player. He’s looking for a long-term player to help the team out now and for the future. Ainge knows his team’s weaknesses and he shared them with us on the Sports Hub show.
“If a deal comes along where the price to add someone to the team who is more long-term than someone who is just the last 25 games of the season, we have more interest in that than we do in finding a Band-Aid.”
The Boston Celtics are looking for big men that are athletic and can rebound. A name that comes to mind is Nikola Vucevic. Adding Vucevic can move Al Horford to the power forward position where he’s more comfortable at. Nikola is averaging 13.9 PPG, 10 RPG and he also average career high in assist (2.8.)
The trade deadline is February 23rd.
