Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona adds the 25-year-old point guard from New Jersey, Xavier Munford to its roster. Blaugrana’s backourt lost experienced playmaker Alex Renfroe few days ago due leg to injury, so Greek coach Georgios Bartzokas decided to add a new player, looking for one more reliable solution. Munford was member of D-League’s Bakersfield Jam (2014-2016), while last year appeared in 18 games (including playoffs) of the Memphis Grizzlies. During the 2016/17 season, the American player returned to the development league, averaging 18.5 points and 5.3 assists per game with the Greensboro Swarm, the affiliated team of the Charlotte Hornets.
Munford travelled overseas, passed succesfuly the medical tests earlier in the day and signed a contract until the end of the current season with the two-time (2003 and 2010) EuroLeague champions, as Barca announced via its official Twitter account.
