Stephen Curry has decided not to participate in this years three point shootout. It was quite a let down when the news broke on Thursday night, that perhaps the greatest shooter of all time is going to skip this years festivities.
Curry won the three point contest in 2015 before losing the crown to fellow splash brother Klay Thompson.
Curry explained his decision saying,” I told myself I was going to it until I won. And then I won. And then I had to defend. And then Klay beat me. So it’s a little bit of an internal battle.”
He also shared that he wants to take advantage of the weekend to get some much needed rest which is understandable. He said, ” This All Star weekend is kind of the slowest, schedule wise, I’ve had and I want to capitalize on that rest.” Steph also added, “It was a tough decision ’cause I love the spotlight of being out there shooting, competing with the field…”

This years three point contestants are Eric Gordan, Kyle Lowry, Kyrie Irving, Nick Young, C.J. McCollum, Kemba Walker, Wesley Matthews, and Steph’s splash brother Klay Thompson.
The three point exhibition will definitely miss the player who has revolutionized the three point shot on Saturday night in New Orleans.
