adidas has just officially unveiled this year’s Black History Month themed basketball line, and it’s inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe. The collection is to pay homage Ashe’s accomplishments on and off-the-court, with the shoes featuring unique graphics and muted colorways. Each will also sport an Arthur Ashe hangtag.
The three silos in this year’s BHM collection will be the Dame 3, D Rose 7 and the Harden Vol. 1. Despite this collection’s limited release, the three shoes will not cost more than their normal retail price. Which is especially worth it considering the Harden Vol. 1 BHM will be sporting a Primeknit upper. Each of the three silos included in the collection feature subtle references to Ashe’s tennis career, his academic accomplishments and his anti-apartheid stance, as well as his efforts toward AIDS awareness.
The expected release date is scheduled for January 23rd.
