The trade was good for the Cubs because their bullpen is almost completed. They can use the same method they used for Chapman same with Wade Davis. Wade Davis can pitch multiple innings, as we seen in the World Series few years ago against the Mets. If Cubs make it back to the Postseason, Wade Davis will be used for multiple innings as well, if Joe Maddon cannot trust his bullpen arms. Wade Davis was once up of time, not just the best closer, but best pitcher in the MLB not to long ago. Wade Davis rental is the best thing the Cubs could have done. Reason is that because the Cubs have a young bull in the pitching department, his name is CJ Edwards. Joe Maddon feel like Cj Edwards will fit that role perfectly; Cubs trade for Wade Davis will get Cj Edwards the time and opportunity to get even better to be put in that role for 2018 season.
Postseason Look in 2017 if Cubs get there with no Injuries: 7th – Cj Edwards 8th Strop/Rondon 9th Wade Davis. Cubs can still use Mike Montgomery for the bullpen in the postseason.
