Markieff Morris would love nothing else but to get traded, and he’s been vocal about it. Markieff believed he was the locker room leader for the Suns last year and he thought the team was behind him and his brother Marcus Morris. The lone Morris on the Suns current NBA roster has been quoted talking down on the Suns franchise and ownership. He has not been calling his teammates back and in an article by Arizona Sports, the Suns forward’s thoughts are said to have reached a new level.
He feels disrespected, says the Suns management never called him or his brother after the trade of Marcus Morris to Detroit. He is unhappy the Suns were willing to trade him to Portland for LaMarcus Aldridge, unhappy that they wanted to replace him. He believes he took a below-market deal in order to play with his brother long-term.
I understand why he’s upset with the organization as he and his brother took a pay cut in order to continue playing for the franchise together, but his immaturity towards the matter will make it difficult for the Suns to maximize their return in any trade scenario. I will be highlighting 3 different teams that should take a gamble on the young forward. None of these trades are backed up by any sources and just because I believe these trades are good for all of the teams involved, it doesn’t mean their leaders believe the same. These are also not rumors or speculation they are pure ideas, from myself. I have used the ESPN trade machine to check if these trades work, I will apologize in advance if they don’t for some reason. Just let me know.
Toronto just re-signed Jonas Valanciunas on a 4-year $64 million extension according to Sports World Report. They will now need to add some play-making from the forward position and Markieff brings play-making and scoring. Patrick Patterson is a great shooter but he offers little to no play-making from the 4 spot. This could be a quick 1 for 1 swap or the Raptors could include a draft pick.
Toronto Receives: Markieff Morris.
Phoenix Receives: Patrick Patterson.
Denver has been trying to trade Kenneth Faried for quiet some time now according to multiple reports, but have not been able to find a trade they found worth-while. The Nuggets also need younger guards who the suns might be able to provide. Kenneth Faried would be a wonderful addition to the quick paced Suns offense especially if they put shooters around him.
Sacramento has been looking for deals that would help them get rid of Rudy Gay‘s contract. This would help Phoenix add a proven scorer who could be a 1st or 2nd option behind Eric Bledsoe. Also, if anybody actually thinks that DeMarcus Cousins or Willie-Caullie Stein would be able to man the power forward position, you are wrong. Markieff could add a different dynamic and put a shooter at the 4 around Rajon Rondo.
Sacramento Receives: Markieff Morris, T.J. Warren, 1st round pick.
Phoenix Receives: Rudy Gay.
