The Jets took a serious blow today at training camp, literally and figuratively. Starting quarterback Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw today in an off-field incident. While in the locker room, linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali punched Smith in the mouth, breaking the young quarterbacks jaw. According to Head Coach Todd Bowles, the punch was not football related, and came about from a issue that Coach Bowles claimed was “very childish,” and “something sixth-graders could’ve talked about.” Smith will miss 6-10 weeks. The Jets have two other QB’s on their roster, veteran Ryan Fitzpaterick and rookie Bryce Petty, to use in Smiths absensce.
