The Los Angeles Clippers have been taking calls for their shooting guard Jamal Crawford with the hopes of moving him ever since last season’s trade deadline. They have been unable to find a trade suitor to take on Jamal Crawford’s contract and maximize their returns. The Clippers have signed Paul Pierce and Josh Smith, they also traded for the dynamic guard Lance Stephenson so there might be a log jam on their bench if they are not able to move Crawford. New has recently leaked that the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers have engaged in conversation to move the reigning sixth man of the league from Los Angeles to Cleveland. Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com has reportedly been quoted stating he knows for a fact that Crawford would love to join the Cavaliers –
I know Jamal personally, and I know he would definitely like to be part of the Cavaliers’ organization.
Jamal is one guy off the top of my head that I know would be a fit, and I know that they’ll be looking at him, They want to use that exception for a wing player.
By moving Crawford the Clippers would save $16-$5.6 million in salary and 10.5 in projected luxury-tax payments, which should be incentive enough for the Clippers to deal Crawford for what would seem like nothing in return. The Cavaliers are looking for a wing player to provide offense off the bench and if they don’t re-sign JR Smith, Crawford would be the next best thing.
