Ty Lawson rumors have been circulating around the league since the trade deadline. Many teams have been linked to the Nuggets speedy point guard who finished 3rd in assists per game last season averaging nearly 10 per game. Lawson though, has been going through some off court problems that have seen the perennial all star’s value around the league plummet. Lawson has been arrested twice this year for driving under the influence of alcohol in which he might face jail time. That is a red flag for all the teams around the league but his talent and potential to flourish on a contending or rebuilding team is undeniable.
Teams being linked to Lawson have been the Kings, Pacers, Pistons, Nets, Jazz, Lakers, 76ers, Knicks, Rockets, Pistons and the Mavericks and although most of them have already fixed or at least attempted to fix their point guard problems, most if not all of them are still interested. Out of that list the team that makes the most sense would be the 76ers who traded their starting point guard and reigning rookie of the year to the Bucks last season. The Sixers have plenty of talent in the front court and boast more assets of picks and young players than just about any team in the league. In addition to their assets they could potentially absorb Lawson’s contract without adding salary.
Another interesting trade suitor are the Houston Rockets who could very well be a point guard away from contention. With the loss of Josh Smith they also have a void at the power forward position. A trade involving Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried for let’s say Terrance Jones, a first and a couple of salary fillers would help both teams. The scenarios for the Nuggets point guard are endless.
Where do you guys think Ty Lawson will end up next season?
