As of today, we are approximately 3 months away from the beginning of the 2015-2016 NBA season officially tipping off. The draft is over, and most big name free agents have landed in their final destinations (Come on DeAndre!). That being said, it is never too soon to speculate, discuss, and predict next years results!
The Finals- Last years’ Finals match up was one to be remembered. After back to back LeBron James triple doubles, King James and company took a 2-1 lead over the Warriors, only for MVP Steph Curry to get hot and overpower the undermanned Cavaliers, and led the Warriors to win 2015 NBA Finals, 4-2. What is the only thing that could more exciting than that? A rematch this upcoming Finals.
Most Valuable Player- In a league with so much talent right now in LeBron, Steph Curry, and James Harden, I foresee the next face of the NBA winning MVP; Anthony Davis. Coming off a season where he (Davis) averaged 25 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks, as well as carrying Pelicans to the playoffs in the difficult Western Conference, the most impressive feat is he did all of that at only 22 years old. The 1st All-NBA selection will only continue to improve his game, and possibly swoop in and take his first of probably many MVP awards.
Rookie of the Year- This years draft was one of the deepest in recent memory, with lots of promising young talent in not only the #1 and #2 picks of Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor, but throughout the entire draft. One sleeper for ROY is #7 overall pick Emmanuel Mudiay, who forwent college to play professionally in China. His 6’5, 200 lb frame makes a tough match up for many point guards, and his hard nosed play can lead to many easy buckets for him and his teammates. On a more than down year for the Nuggets, he could be a shining star, and Rookie of The Year Candidate.
